The incident occurred on July 22 when the victim, Garylon Russell, was attempting to repossess a vehicle at an apartment complex. Cobb confronted Russell and shot him multiple times before fleeing on foot. Despite being taken to the hospital, Russell was pronounced dead upon arrival. A witness reported hearing a crash and seeing Russell inside a vehicle that had collided with a neighbor’s truck. The witness also mentioned that Russell was repossessing a vehicle when he was shot.
