The Texas County Sheriff’s Office and its deputies were involved in a series of significant incidents on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. They were dispatched to a residence on Venable Drive in the Success area after receiving reports of domestic violence. The suspect, a 46-year-old male who was wanted on a felony arrest warrant and identified as a sex offender, was believed to be present at the location. Upon their arrival, the deputies confronted the individual outside the house, but he quickly fled inside and barricaded himself. After a four-hour standoff, the suspect was eventually apprehended.

Later that same day, at approximately 3:49 p.m., deputies and officers from the Licking Police Department responded to a shooting incident at a business on CC Highway in the Licking vicinity. Sadly, a 58-year-old man died from his injuries at the scene. Law enforcement swiftly apprehended a 62-year-old male who was present during the incident. He has since been transferred to Texas County Jail and is awaiting formal charges.
