Gay Black Man Stabbed to Death in Brooklyn in Possible Hate Crime
A tragic incident unfolded at a Mobil gas station in Brooklyn on Saturday night, resulting in the death of a gay black man. The incident is currently being investigated as a potential hate crime after a witness reported that the suspect engaged in a heated argument with the victim and his friends, citing their behavior as offensive to his Muslim faith.
According to surveillance footage, a group of four shirtless men in a vehicle at the gas pump got into a confrontation with another group of men inside the station’s convenience store. The argument escalated, culminating in one man being stabbed.
The witness, 32-year-old Summy Ullah, stated that the suspect criticized a friend of the victim for dancing in what appeared to be his underwear, claiming that it offended his Muslim faith. Ullah believes this incident may be classified as a hate crime.
Efforts were made to calm both groups down, but tensions flared up again when one of the men in front of the store recorded the shirtless males with his cellphone and hurled insults at them. It was during this resurgence of the argument that the victim was viciously attacked, suffering a fatal stab wound to the torso.
The victim was identified as 28-year-old O’Shae Sibley, a talented dancer. His friend, Beckenbaur Hamilton, expressed shock and anger, lamenting the loss of a life over such a trivial matter. No arrests have been made thus far.
The NYPD Hate Crimes Taskforce has commenced an investigation into this devastating incident.
