AURORA, IL — Markwon Wilson, a 21-year-old resident of Aurora, has been charged with drug-induced homicide in connection with the death of a 62-year-old man from Wheaton. Raul Torres was found dead in his home on March 29, 2021, with cocaine and drug paraphernalia nearby. Following an investigation, authorities determined that Wilson had supplied the illegal narcotics to Torres, leading to his overdose.

Wilson was recently arrested on July 26 by Winnebago County sheriff’s deputies and Wheaton detectives. A $500,000 bond has been set for his release. He is also facing a separate charge of manufacture/delivery of 400-900 grams of cocaine in Winnebago County.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin emphasized the severity of drug-related crimes, stating that illegal narcotics cause the loss of numerous lives each year. He expressed his hope that the charges filed against Wilson would serve as a warning to others involved in drug trafficking in DuPage County.

Wilson’s next court appearance is scheduled for August 23 in front of Judge Michael Reidy, who set his bond. The tragic death of Raul Torres serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences of drug abuse and the importance of holding individuals accountable for their involvement in the distribution of illegal substances.
