66-Year-Old Mary Lou Flores Killed in Car-to-Car Shootout Crash in Fresno
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A fatal crash occurred on Monday evening at the intersection of Shaw and Brawley Avenues, resulting in the death of 66-year-old Mary Lou Flores. The incident involved a car-to-car shootout.
Authorities responded to two separate calls, one reporting a shooting victim at a nearby Walmart and another regarding the crash. Upon investigation, it was revealed that three vehicles were traveling southbound on Brawley Avenue when a small SUV began firing at the sedan driven by Flores.
A 24-year-old driver in a separate vehicle was struck in the head and sought refuge at the Walmart on Shaw Avenue to contact the police. Both the SUV involved in the shooting and Flores’ car continued down Brawley Avenue until they collided and caught fire at the intersection of Brawley and Weber Avenues.
Flores and the other occupants of her car were transported to the hospital. Tragically, Flores succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. The 24-year-old driver remains in critical condition but is expected to survive.
The other occupants of Flores’ car were also taken to the hospital and are expected to recover. The Fresno Police will hold a news conference on this developing story, which will be live-streamed by Action News at 3 p.m.
