Suspect Arrested for DUI After Hit-and-Run Crash in Santa Rosa

A suspect has been apprehended on suspicion of DUI following a hit-and-run crash that occurred overnight on Sunday, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department. The incident took place near Railroad Street and Third Street when an officer was flagged down by a driver who had fallen victim to the crash.

Law enforcement authorities launched a search for the suspect vehicle and eventually located it in a parking lot near Fifth Street and Wilson Street. The driver of the suspect vehicle displayed signs of being intoxicated, leading police to believe that alcohol was a contributing factor in the incident.

The apprehended driver has been identified as 34-year-old Alfredo Gonzalez-Gutierrez, a resident of Santa Rosa. Gonzalez-Gutierrez was taken into custody and subsequently booked into Sonoma County Jail on two felony charges: DUI causing injury and hit-and-run with injury.

Gonzalez-Gutierrez’s bail has been set at $200,000. While it has not been disclosed whether the suspect sustained any injuries during the collision, the victim was transported to the hospital with significant injuries. Fortunately, the injured driver is expected to make a full recovery.

This incident follows another case of DUI suspicion in the North Bay, with a Petaluma man being arrested after a three-vehicle collision late on Saturday night. Law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to address the issue of drunk driving and ensure the safety of the community.
