A man who was shot and killed in Compton has been identified as Fidel Cortez, according to authorities. The 33-year-old victim was found dead in a pallet yard in the 2000 block of Santa Fe Avenue. Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call about a gunshot victim in the commercial-industrial area. Cortez had sustained upper body gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by Compton Fire Department paramedics.
