A head-on crash on U.S. 151 near Hickory Road in Fond du Lac left three people injured, one seriously. The incident occurred after a wrong-way driver was reported heading north in the southbound lanes. Deputies attempted to intercept the vehicle but it collided with a southbound vehicle before they could reach it. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Head-On Crash on U.S. 151 Near Hickory Road Leaves Three Injured

FOND DU LAC – In a head-on collision on Sunday night, three individuals were injured, one of them seriously, on U.S. 151 near Hickory Road. The incident occurred when a wrong-way driver was reported heading north in the southbound lanes of U.S. 151 near County Y in Lamartine Township, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon receiving the report, deputies from the sheriff’s office immediately responded to the area, activating their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to intercept the vehicle. However, before they could reach the scene, the wrong-way driver collided head-on with a southbound vehicle.

Deputies were quick to render aid and provide assistance. The driver of the southbound vehicle, identified as a 20-year-old man from the Madison area, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and did not require hospitalization.

The passenger of the wrong-way vehicle, a 28-year-old woman from Menomonee Falls, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah and is currently in stable condition.

The wrong-way driver, a 27-year-old man from Menomonee Falls, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital. Deputies noted signs of impairment, and it was determined that the driver was under the influence of an intoxicant while operating the vehicle.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office stated that alcohol consumption and driving the wrong way on a divided highway were contributing factors to the crash. All occupants involved in the collision were wearing their seatbelts.

The southbound lanes of U.S. 151 were closed for approximately one hour following the accident. Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
