UPDATE: A fatal motor vehicle crash occurred early Sunday morning in far East El Paso, resulting in the death of one man and minor injuries to another individual, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Details of the Crash

The incident took place at the intersection of Eastlake and Rojas at approximately 6:06 a.m. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to the scene. The driver of a Ford Focus, identified as 28-year-old Carlos Balandran, was found unconscious. Medical personnel were immediately summoned to provide assistance. Unfortunately, Balandran succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a local hospital.

Investigation Findings

Preliminary investigations indicated that Balandran was traveling north on Eastlake behind another vehicle. Regrettably, he failed to control his speed and collided with the rear of the other car, causing significant damage to both vehicles. The Sheriff’s Office has mobilized the Special Traffic Investigators unit, responsible for examining fatal and serious accidents, to conduct a thorough investigation.

Seatbelt Negligence
