Angus Cloud, Star of HBO’s “Euphoria,” Passes Away at 25

Angus Cloud, the talented actor known for his portrayal of Fezco “Fez” O’Neill on HBO’s hit series “Euphoria,” tragically passed away on Monday in Oakland, Calif. He was only 25 years old.

In a heartfelt statement, Cloud’s family expressed their grief, saying, “It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. Angus was special to all of us in so many ways. Last week, he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health, and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”

The statement continued, “We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter, and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss.”

Angus Cloud rose to prominence with his role as Fez on “Euphoria,” a critically acclaimed teen drama series that has garnered numerous awards, including Emmy recognition. Cloud played a main character on the show’s first two seasons, captivating audiences with his exceptional talent. In addition to his work on “Euphoria,” Cloud also showcased his acting skills in films such as “North Hollywood” (2021) and “The Line” (2023).

Recently, Cloud had been cast opposite Melissa Berrera in a new horror movie at Universal Pictures, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, best known for their work on “Scream 6.” Cloud’s talent extended beyond the screen, as he also starred in various music videos, including Noah Cyrus’ “All Three,” Juice WRLD’s “Cigarettes,” and Becky G and Karol G’s “Miamiii.”

Last year, Angus Cloud was honored at Variety’s annual Power of Young Hollywood event, where he shared his incredible journey of being discovered for “Euphoria.” Recalling the experience, Cloud said, “I was with some friends. We were just hanging out.” He also addressed the misconception that his role was effortless, stating, “It does bother me when people are like, ‘It must be so easy! You get to go in and be yourself.’ It’s not that simple. I brought a lot to the character. You can believe what you want. It ain’t got nothing to do with me.”

Cloud’s talent and dedication were acknowledged by “Euphoria” casting director Jennifer Venditti, who said, “People think, ‘Oh, he just shows up. He’s just this lazy stoner.’ Angus doesn’t get enough credit.”

Angus Cloud had become a fan favorite on “Euphoria,” and his untimely passing leaves a void in the hearts of the show’s viewers. The series, which has not yet begun production on its third season, released a statement expressing their profound sadness. HBO stated, “We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”
