Investigation Underway After Fatal Motorcycle accident in Macon

Macon, Georgia – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a tragic traffic accident that took place on Riggins Mill Road near Herbert Smart Airport in Macon. According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, the incident involved a collision between a Chevrolet Silverado and a motorcycle.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, with the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center receiving the emergency call at 12:39 a.m. Sadly, the motorcyclist, identified as 48-year-old Michael Burnett from Macon, was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley.

Fortunately, the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado escaped without any injuries. Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the accident, but the investigation is still ongoing.
