Erin Nicolle Battle, age 29, has been arrested and charged with Murder 1st Degree, Firearm Use/Felony/Violent Crime, and Accessory After Fact Murder 1st and 2nd Degree. The arrest comes after the shooting death of 18-year-old Isaiah Alexander Woodland, also known as Tasiyah or Siyah, a transgender woman. Witnesses report that Battle was heard saying “Shoot him” before the victim was shot multiple times by Darryl Carlton Parks Jr., who is also a suspect in the case. Battle has fled to Washington D.C. and it is unknown if charges are pending. Parks has been apprehended and charged with multiple offenses, including First-Degree Murder. On July 25, 2023, Erin Nicolle Battle, a 29-year-old resident of Waldorf, was taken into custody following an arrest warrant and criminal indictment. Battle is currently being held without bond and has been charged with Murder 1st Degree, Firearm Use/Felony/Violent Crime, and Accessory After Fact Murder 1st and 2nd Degree.

The arrest is in connection to a shooting incident that took place on March 24, 2023, at the Big Dogs Paradise Bar in Mechanicsville. The victim, identified as 18-year-old Isaiah Alexander Woodland, a transgender woman, was found shot in a silver Toyota sedan parked on Three Notch Road. Despite efforts to save her, Woodland was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing Battle in the passenger seat of a dark-colored sedan, along with a male driver known as “Dee.” According to the witnesses, Battle was overheard saying “Shoot him” or “Do it” before the male driver fired multiple shots, striking the victim. The suspect vehicle then followed the victim and witness, firing additional gunshots.

Following the murder, Battle fled to Washington D.C. and was later located and apprehended by investigators. Darryl Carlton Parks Jr., the male driver known as “Dee,” was also identified as a suspect and has been charged with multiple criminal offenses, including First-Degree Murder and Illegal Possession of a Regulated Firearm.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the case and has been in contact with the victim’s family and LGBTQ+ community organizations to offer support and address safety concerns. The shooting does not appear to be targeted due to the victim’s gender identity.
