Five members of a family tragically lost their lives on Monday when their car plunged into a river in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah. The victims, all residents of Ganjdundwara town in Kasganj district, were returning from a medical examination at Etah Medical College when the accident occurred. The car crashed into the railing of the Jirsami Canal on the border of Etah and Kasganj and fell into an overflowing canal.

According to initial investigations, the car was speeding before it fell into the canal. The police arrived at the scene promptly and conducted a rescue operation, but it took them nearly an hour to recover the bodies. The accident took place in the jurisdiction of the Kotwali Dehat police station area.

Moharram Singh, a family member, shared his account of the incident, stating that they were nephew and uncle, and the reason for their trip was to seek medical attention for his wife. Despite his suggestion to find a doctor nearby, the driver insisted on going to Etah. Singh mentioned that the driver was distraught and expressed concern for his wife’s deteriorating health. Unfortunately, the sharp turns along the canal proved fatal.
