In a shocking turn of events, a new arrest has been made in the case of a Benson man’s death. The suspect? His former wife. James Dwight Peacock, 69, was found shot dead during a well-being check on June 15. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reported that Peacock was in his home on N.C. 27 W. at the time.
Just one week later, Peacock’s stepson, Wesley Alexander Jones, was arrested and charged with his murder. Jones, 25, was taken into custody on June 22 in Cumberland County. However, the investigation did not stop there. On Friday, an additional arrest was made, resulting in murder charges for 55-year-old Vickie Katanyan Peacock.
Vickie Peacock is the mother of Wesley Alexander Jones and the ex-wife of James Dwight Peacock, confirmed Johnston County Capt. Jeff Caldwell. She was arrested at her home in Fayetteville and is currently being held in the Johnston County Jail without bond.
