The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with a tragic shooting that took the life of a Seffner woman. The suspect, identified as Aurelio Diaz, allegedly fired a fatal shot through the window of the victim’s car as she was arriving at her residence on Orange Street. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Thursday. Diaz was apprehended just one mile away from the crime scene.

The victim, Ashley Voss, leaves behind two young boys. Her grandmother, Paris Dube, spoke to FOX3 Now about the devastating loss. Dube described Voss as an excellent and devoted mother who deeply loved her children. It is heartbreaking to think that they will now have to grow up without their mother.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from an individual who could not or would not speak. When deputies arrived at the location, they found Voss inside her vehicle with severe upper body injuries. Sheriff Chad Chronister characterized the incident as a “cold-blooded murder” and expressed his sadness over the viciousness of the crime.

Diaz was taken into custody without incident on Thursday evening. He is now facing charges of first-degree premeditated murder. The investigation into the case is ongoing, and the sheriff’s office is urging anyone with information to come forward.

Sheriff Chronister praised the prompt action and meticulous investigation that led to Diaz’s arrest. He hopes that it brings some closure to the victim’s family as they seek justice for their beloved Ashley Voss.

Anyone with information about the murder is encouraged to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay to submit anonymous tips..
