A high-speed chase on Interstate 85 in Georgia ended tragically when two children were ejected from an SUV, according to Georgia State Patrol. The incident occurred when Niesha Jackson led a Coweta County deputy and GSP troopers on a reckless pursuit.

It all began when a deputy spotted a white Kia Sportage traveling at 105 mph on I-85 and attempted to pull the driver over. However, instead of complying, Jackson accelerated in a reckless manner, reaching speeds of up to 120 mph. She weaved between lanes and passed other drivers, endangering everyone on the road.

State troopers took over the chase, and about 10 miles later, they performed a PIT maneuver near mile marker 53. As a result, Jackson’s SUV veered off the road, hitting an embankment and trees. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn, leading to the ejection of a 6-year-old and a 10-year-old girl.

The 10-year-old girl was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston and is still recovering. The other children, who were not in child safety seats, sustained minor injuries and were taken to the children’s hospital by ambulance. Thankfully, they have been released since then.

Jackson now faces several charges, including fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer, speeding, serious injury by vehicle, improper turn, no proof of insurance, and not wearing a seatbelt.

This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with reckless driving and the importance of following traffic laws. The lives of innocent children were put at risk due to one individual’s irresponsible actions. It is crucial for drivers to prioritize the safety of themselves and others on the road to prevent such tragic incidents from occurring..
