A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for a deadly assault that occurred in the Madison South neighborhood in April 2022. Jacauree Walker was found guilty of second-degree murder and two counts of first-degree assault for the death of 19-year-old Clyde Hunt. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years.

The incident began on April 7, 2022, when police responded to an assault at a hotel in the 3800 block of Northeast 82nd Avenue. Hunt was found in the parking lot with serious head injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on April 26.

Hunt’s family, who spoke to FOX 12 in May 2022, revealed that he had been on a ventilator for several days before they made the difficult decision to remove life support. The tragedy had a profound impact on his loved ones, and they were relieved to see justice served with Walker’s conviction.

Walker was identified as a suspect and subsequently arrested on May 11. He has been in custody at Multnomah County Jail since then. Now, with his sentencing, he will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

This case highlights the devastating consequences of violent assaults and the importance of swift and thorough investigations. It also serves as a reminder that justice can be achieved even in the face of heartbreaking loss. While it cannot bring back their loved one, Hunt’s family can find solace in knowing that the person responsible for his death will face the consequences of their actions.

The community can also take comfort in the fact that individuals who commit such heinous crimes are held accountable, fostering a sense of safety and justice. Hopefully, this sentence will serve as a deterrent to others who might contemplate engaging in violent acts, ultimately contributing to a safer society..
