A Melrose man has been accused of groping a teenage girl outside a restaurant in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood. The incident, which occurred on Monday, has led to the arrest of Francis Mwaura, 31, on charges of indecent assault and battery.

According to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office, the victim was sitting outside a restaurant on Centre Street when Mwaura approached her. He sat beside her and made her feel uncomfortable by asking about the food. The girl moved away and informed him that she was a minor, but he proceeded to put his hand between her legs. A witness walking by heard the girl’s scream and reported the incident to the police.
