A tragic accident in Refugio County, Texas, has claimed the lives of a woman and her unborn child. The incident occurred early Sunday morning on State Highway 35 near FM 774. The truck they were traveling in rolled over after colliding with an alligator in the middle of the road.

Emergency responders from the Refugio County Sheriff’s Office, Refugio County Office of Emergency Management, Tivoli Volunteer Fire Department, Refugio Volunteer Fire Department, and Calhoun County EMS rushed to the scene to assist. Two adults and three children were injured and transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Gabrielle Breaux, a woman from Louisiana, sadly succumbed to her injuries at DeTar Hospital in Victoria. It was later confirmed that she was pregnant at the time of the accident. The loss of both mother and unborn child is a devastating tragedy for their family and loved ones.
