A tragic accident on a busy highway in north Georgia has left five people dead, including the wife and two young children of a Hall County deputy. The crash occurred on Sunday afternoon on Ga. 365 in Habersham County.

According to Georgia State Patrol, the accident involved a Corvette driven by Mitchell Boggs, 58, and his passenger, traveling southbound in the right lane. Avonlea Holtzclaw, 29, was driving a Ford Explorer and attempted to cross the southbound side, turning onto Mt. Zion Road. Boggs collided with Holtzclaw’s SUV on the right side, causing both vehicles to crash and catch fire.

Tragically, three of the victims were identified as Holtzclaw and her two children, Maddie Kate and Colt, ages five and six. They were the wife and kids of Hall County Deputy Patrick Neil Holtzclaw. The news has left the entire community devastated, and Sheriff Gerald Couch has pledged to support Deputy Holtzclaw during this difficult time.

Sheriff Couch expressed his condolences and stated that there are no words to adequately express the heartbreak the Holtzclaw family is experiencing. He also thanked the law enforcement agencies and the community for their support and asked for prayers and privacy for Deputy Holtzclaw as he grieves.

This tragic accident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the devastating consequences that can result from a momentary lapse in judgment. It is a heartbreaking reminder of the fragility of life and the impact it has on the families left behind.

As the community mourns the loss of these innocent lives, it is important for everyone to come together to support one another and offer any assistance that may be needed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Holtzclaw family and all those affected by this tragic accident..
