La Porte County deputies responded to a single vehicle personal injury crash at the intersection of State Road 2 and Old State Road 2. The crash involved a black 2014 GMC Sierra pickup truck that had left the roadway, traveled into a deep ditch, and came to rest in a field.
Two occupants were identified at the scene. One of them, Allan M. Vanblaircom of Valparaiso, had sustained an upper body injury. He was transported to Northwest Health – Porter Regional Campus for medical treatment. However, it was later reported that Vanblaircom had succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
The other occupant of the vehicle was identified as Ashlee S. Perrin of Skokie, Illinois. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation by the members of the Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (FACT). Toxicology test results are pending.
The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office has not released any further information about the incident due to its ongoing investigation. The FACT team will continue to investigate the crash and determine the factors that led to it.
