According to the Shelby Police, officers received a call at 2:39 a.m. regarding a man who had been shot. Upon arrival at the intersection of Earl and Dover streets, they discovered a 34-year-old man named Travis Eugene Parks suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Sgt. Seth Treadway of the Shelby Police stated that through their investigation, they determined that the shooter was 39-year-old Ashley Terrese Parks, who is distantly related to Travis Parks. The shooting reportedly stemmed from a personal dispute between the two individuals. Travis Parks was subsequently transported to a hospital in Charlotte, where he remains in critical condition.
