On Interstate 75 in Boone County, a tragic car accident took the life of 18-year-old Lauren Collins. The incident occurred when a tire separated from a pickup truck and struck Collins’ vehicle. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at around 12:15 a.m.

According to the preliminary investigation, Collins was driving south on I-75 when her windshield was hit by the errant tire. It is believed that another vehicle, possibly a dual pickup truck, was traveling north on the same highway when its tire suddenly blew out. This caused the vehicle to lose control, slide over the concrete barrier, and crash into Collins’ car.

Emergency responders from the Walton Fire Department extracted Collins from her vehicle and transported her to the University of Cincinnati Medical Centre. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office accident Reconstruction Team is currently conducting an investigation into the incident. Authorities are still searching for the vehicle that lost the tire on northbound I-75.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Sergeant Jeff Nagy at the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is ongoing, and updates can be found on Leedaily.com.

This heartbreaking accident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the potential dangers that can arise from even seemingly minor vehicle malfunctions. It is crucial for drivers to regularly inspect their tires and ensure they are properly maintained.
