A man from Moulton, Alabama, has been arrested and charged for allegedly beating and robbing another man earlier this summer. The incident occurred on June 3 when the victim was walking home and a white pickup truck stopped beside him. The driver, identified as James Lee Jones, and a woman got out of the truck and began yelling at the victim. Jones then hit the victim with a baseball bat, knocking him to the ground, and proceeded to hit him multiple times. During the attack, the victim dropped his backpack, which Jones allegedly took before leaving the scene. The victim suffered a broken arm and finger as a result of the assault.

Jones was later apprehended after a search of his property, where the backpack and the bat possibly used in the attack were found. He admitted to assaulting and robbing the victim when questioned by authorities. However, Jones had already been released from jail before an arrest warrant could be served.

Nearly a month later, on July 3, Jones was involved in a motorcycle crash on Hwy 33. Officers at the scene discovered that the motorcycle he had wrecked was reported stolen. Jones suffered a broken arm in the crash. Consequently, a felony warrant for first-degree receiving stolen property was issued in addition to the existing second-degree robbery warrant. He was subsequently booked into the Lawrence County Jail on July 4.

At the time of writing, no hearings had been scheduled for Jones. The arrest and charges against him serve as a reminder of the importance of public safety and the dedication of law enforcement in apprehending individuals responsible for violent crimes..
