A tragic incident occurred in Clayton County, where a woman was kidnapped and killed by her ex-boyfriend. What makes this case even more chilling is the fact that she had been kidnapped by him exactly a year ago on the same day. Cameron Hopkins is now facing charges of malice murder, kidnapping, and other offenses in connection with Khaliyah Jones’ death.

The horrifying chain of events began when Hopkins allegedly abducted Jones from the Wingstop where she worked in Fayetteville. He then led the police on a chase through Fayette and Clayton counties, eventually shooting and killing Jones outside Lovejoy High School.

This is not the first time the former couple has been involved in a kidnapping incident. One year ago, on July 16, 2022, Hopkins approached Jones’ car with a gun at a Walmart in Lovejoy. He broke the window, dragged her out of the car, and sped off. Jones managed to escape when the car stopped in Macon, running to a nearby business for help. Hopkins was charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and criminal damage to property.

The recent incident unfolded similarly, with Hopkins entering the Wingstop and taking Jones at gunpoint. They fled in a red Camaro, with police in pursuit. The chase ended outside Lovejoy High School, where Fayetteville police performed a PIT maneuver to stop Hopkins. Gunshots were fired inside the car, and Hopkins also shot at the officers’ vehicles.

Hopkins now faces charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime. This horrifying case highlights the importance of addressing domestic violence and taking action to protect victims. It is a tragic reminder of the dangers some individuals face in their personal relationships..
