An 18-year-old woman tragically lost her life after her vehicle was struck by a tire that broke away from a pickup truck on Interstate 75 in Boone County. The incident occurred around 12:15 a.m., prompting a response from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
According to the preliminary investigation conducted by the sheriff’s office, the young woman, identified as Lauren Collins from Independence, was driving south on I-75 when her windshield was suddenly hit by the tire. Deputies suspect that another vehicle, potentially a dually pickup truck, was traveling north on the same highway when its tire unexpectedly broke away. This caused the vehicle to veer out of control and roll over the concrete barrier, ultimately colliding with Collins’ car.
