The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into a tragic single-vehicle accident that resulted in the death of a Valparaiso man. The incident occurred early Saturday morning in LaPorte County, Indiana.

According to reports, the accident took place in the vicinity of State Road 2 and Old State Road 2. Upon arriving at the scene, investigators determined that a pickup truck had veered off State Road 2, ultimately ending up in a deep ditch within a nearby field.

The two individuals inside the truck were identified as a 28-year-old woman from Skokie, Illinois, and Allan Vanblaircom, a 55-year-old resident of Valparaiso. Vanblaircom, unfortunately, sustained an upper body injury as a result of the crash.

Emergency medical personnel promptly transported Vanblaircom to a local hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the county’s Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (FACT) was summoned to the scene to conduct a comprehensive investigation.

Tragically, several hours later, FACT members received the devastating news that Vanblaircom had succumbed to his injuries. The investigation into the accident is still ongoing, with toxicology test results pending.

The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office and FACT are working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident. Their goal is to determine what factors, if any, contributed to the accident and to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving practices and the potentially severe consequences that can arise from even a single moment of negligence or distraction behind the wheel. As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of Allan Vanblaircom and hopes for answers that will bring closure to his loved ones..
