“Tragic Death of Sephra Fitak in Intentionally Set Fire: Suspect Identified”

On July 15, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and fire crews responded to a house fire at 320 Aspen Way in Fernley. Upon extinguishing the fire in the bedroom, authorities discovered the lifeless body of Sephra Fitak. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division, along with Nevada State Fire Marshal Investigators and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Investigators, determined that the incident was a homicide.

Further investigation revealed that the fire had been intentionally started in an effort to conceal the crime. Detectives identified Sephra’s boyfriend, Roger Lee Borud, as the suspect in the case.

Roger was apprehended on the same day of the incident by Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Deputies for burglary, home invasion, and probation violation in an unrelated investigation. The following day, on July 16, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division arrested Roger for open murder and first-degree arson.
