Two Davis County deputies, Cpl. Steven Lewis and Deputy Jennifer Turner, were honored and remembered at a memorial service held at the Dee Events Center in Ogden on Friday, July 14, 2023. The couple tragically died in a motorcycle accident on July 3 in Weber County, just days after their wedding.

The memorial service was attended by friends, family, and numerous representatives from the Davis County Sheriff’s Office, along with members of the public. During the service, several family members spoke about the impact that Lewis and Turner had on their lives.

Lewis was described as a loving and generous host who enjoyed bringing loved ones together to share food, drinks, and quality time. Turner was praised for her dedication to her career in law enforcement and her aspirations of becoming a detective.

Both Lewis and Turner were remembered as bright lights in the world, and their loss has left a void in the lives of those who knew them. Despite the darkness that their absence has brought, family members found solace in the fact that they were all connected and that new stars will continue to appear.

Lewis, a former United States Army soldier, joined the Davis County Sheriff’s Office after his military service. He received recognition for his commitment to safety and security within the jail and was known for his attention to detail and thoroughness in searches.

Turner, on the other hand, was a kind and compassionate deputy who was also EMT certified. She enjoyed passing on her knowledge as an EMT instructor at Salt Lake Community College and was dedicated to helping others and seeing lives changed for the better.

The memorial service was followed by the interment of both Lewis and Turner’s remains at the Brigham City Cemetery.
