“Lawyer and Escort Fatally Shot in Morelia Shopping Mall Attack”

On Friday afternoon, a lawyer and his escort were tragically shot and killed in the parking lot of a shopping mall in Morelia, Michoacán. The incident occurred at the Las Américas shopping center, just minutes before 5:00 p.m. The victims have been identified as Francisco “N” and Diego “N”. Witnesses reported that the attackers fled the scene in a white van after opening fire on the lawyer and his escort, who were attached to the Auxiliary State Police.

Videos shared on social media captured the chaotic scene, with police running into the mall while shops closed their curtains. Journalist Azucena Uresti posted a clip on Twitter, where a man can be heard saying, “There are shots upstairs.” Thankfully, the situation was eventually brought under control.

Following the shooting, four injured individuals arrived at the Women’s Hospital in a van. Unfortunately, one of them was pronounced dead. The State Attorney’s Office has initiated an investigation to determine the possible relationship between these individuals and the shooting at the shopping center.

Authorities have not provided additional information about the motive behind the attack or the identity of the assailants.
