A Georgia man was recently arrested after leading police on a slow-speed chase through three cities, causing multiple crashes along the way. The bizarre incident took place in the heart of metro Atlanta and ended at a Waffle House.
The chase began when Hapeville Police were called to assist College Park Police in pursuing a John Deere 5100 tractor pulling a green John Deere Batwing lawn mower. Despite officers’ attempts to pull the tractor over, the driver, later identified as Matthew Fortune, continued to drive and even made a U-turn near Elkins Street.

Police instructed Fortune to stop and exit the tractor’s cab, but instead, he accelerated towards the officers and struck a patrol cruiser.
A TikTok video capturing the incident has since gone viral, showing the tractor trailer colliding with a parked SUV. Officers managed to catch up to Fortune on foot and eventually apprehended him after using pepper spray. They broke the window of the tractor to prevent his escape.
It was later discovered that the tractor had been stolen from College Park. Fortune now faces charges in Hapeville, College Park, and East Point, and he has been booked into the Fulton County Jail.
