A man in Seekonk, Massachusetts, has been arrested for an alleged shooting spree that occurred on Thursday night. Joshua Furtado, a 24-year-old resident of Seekonk, has been charged with multiple offenses, including armed assault to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 ft. of a dwelling, and vandalizing property.

The Seekonk Police received a 911 call around 10:45 p.m. from a driver who claimed to have been fired upon by an unknown dark-colored SUV on Newman Avenue. The victim’s car was hit by a bullet, but they were able to escape by driving into Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Thirty minutes later, another shooting incident was reported on Border Avenue, where a car parked in front of a house had been shot up by a dark-colored SUV.

Shortly after the second incident, police located a car matching the shooter’s description in the area and arrested Furtado. A 22 caliber handgun and spent shell casings were found in his car. At 11:32 p.m., another call came in, reporting that Furtado had shot at an occupied car on Pine Street.

Searches of Furtado’s home revealed multiple “ghost guns,” along with materials and tools for the production of an AR-15 style rifle and various types of ammunition. Authorities are still unsure of the exact motives behind the shootings.

Furtado was arraigned in Taunton District Court the following day, and additional charges are expected to be filed. The case remains active and ongoing.

As more information becomes available, updates will be provided. In the meantime, residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
