The suspect involved in a shootout with Columbus Police and Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies in east Columbus on Saturday evening has been identified as Antwan Lindsey, 45. The incident occurred at a Walgreens on East Livingston Avenue at around 7:50 p.m.
According to reports, a Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy working special duty at Walgreens was alerted by a bystander that a man was firing shots and chasing another person. The deputy went outside to confront the suspect, who continued to fire shots, leading to a foot chase. During the chase, gunfire was exchanged between the deputy and Lindsey near an apartment complex.

As the shootout unfolded, the deputy called for assistance, and Columbus Police officers along with other deputies responded to the scene. They were informed that the suspect had entered one of the apartment buildings. Law enforcement agents entered the building and found Lindsey, firing multiple shots and striking him at least once. Lindsey was transported to Grant Medical Center but was pronounced dead at 8:25 p.m.
Fortunately, no officers or deputies were injured in the incident. The firearm used by the suspect was recovered at the scene. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been brought in to investigate the incident further.
