An Indianapolis man has been arrested and charged with murder following a deadly robbery that took place last summer. Jerry Poge, a 20-year-old resident of Indy, was charged on Monday with felony murder and robbery after an ongoing investigation linked him to the shooting of 41-year-old Ervin Crabtree.

The incident occurred on June 17, 2022, when the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a call about a person shot on Stuart Street in the city’s near northeast side. Crabtree was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries later that morning. Thankfully, a child who was also present in the house at the time was unharmed.

Detectives working on the case identified Poge as a possible suspect for the shooting, leading to his arrest. At the time of his arrest, Poge was already in police custody for an unrelated incident. He is now facing charges of felony murder and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 2 Felony.

An initial hearing for Poge has been scheduled for July 18 at 1:30 p.m. This arrest brings some closure to the tragic incident and provides hope for justice for the victim and their family.

It is important to remember that everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. As the case progresses, more details may emerge, shedding light on the events that took place that fateful night. The IMPD and the legal system will continue their work to ensure a fair and thorough investigation into this crime..
