A Zanesville man has been charged with aggravated murder in connection with an incident that occurred in June. Cody Lee Moody, a 34-year-old resident of Zanesville, was taken into custody after a search warrant was served at his residence on Ohio Street. He was then interviewed and booked into the county jail.

The charges against Moody were filed by Prosecutor Ron Welch’s Office in Muskingum County Court. He has been charged with aggravated murder, which is an unclassified felony. Moody is currently being held in jail on a $2 million bond.

According to Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz, the incident was not a random act, but rather a targeted and calculated act. The investigation began when law enforcement responded to a call at a residence on Culbertson Road, where gunshots were reported. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of a white male who had been shot. The victim was identified as Timothy Norris, and it was confirmed that he lived at the address.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation was called in to process the crime scene, and evidence was found indicating that a shot had been fired from outside the trailer towards the victim. It was determined that a handgun was used in the incident. Sheriff Lutz also mentioned that his deputies had responded to another incident at the same address in August 2022, where Jordan Rivera was found deceased due to an overdose.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing. As more details emerge, it is expected that further charges may be filed. Cody Lee Moody will remain in custody until his case is resolved in court..
