A tragic motorcycle accident in Decatur County, Indiana has claimed the life of a Henry County woman. Karie Kay King, a 58-year-old resident of New Castle, Indiana, passed away on July 8, 2023, due to injuries sustained in the crash.

The incident occurred on June 23, around 8:11 p.m., when Decatur County Dispatch received a call about a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Ind. 46, just west of Ind. 3. Upon arrival, deputies found King lying approximately 12 to 15 feet away from her motorcycle. Shockingly, she was not wearing a helmet, resulting in significant head trauma.

According to a witness at the scene, the motorcycle appeared to be wobbling before veering off the north side of the road. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Emergency services were quick to respond, with Decatur County EMS, Burney Volunteer Fire Department, Greensburg Fire Department, and Greensburg Police Department all providing assistance.

After the accident, King was airlifted to a hospital in the Cincinnati area, where she fought for her life for several days. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, she tragically succumbed to her injuries.
