Courtney Leigh Wadeck, a 44-year-old woman from Sarasota, Florida, has been arrested by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on July 9. Deputies responded to a call regarding a shooting at a residence near Beneva and Clark Roads just before midnight. Upon arrival, they discovered an unresponsive female with a gunshot wound to her chest. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to witnesses, Wadeck and the victim had a disagreement about living conditions and became involved in a physical altercation. Two witnesses attempted to intervene but were unsuccessful. Shortly after, they heard a gunshot and saw the victim fall to the floor. Wadeck was immediately identified as the suspect in the shooting.

Wadeck has been charged with second-degree murder without premeditation and is currently in custody at the Sarasota County Correctional Facility. She is being held without bond.
