“Fatality Near Kennewick: Victim Jena Olafson Found, Boyfriend Michael Smith Injured”

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office has released more information regarding a fatality that occurred near Kennewick on June 9th. According to reports, deputies responded to a home in the 88000 block of Reata Road after receiving a report of a dead woman. The officers discovered the body of 38-year-old Jena Olafson at the location. Her live-in boyfriend, identified as 38-year-old Michael Smith, was also found inside the home.

Smith was suffering from a self-inflicted wound, although the cause was not specified by the BCSO. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The BCSO has classified Olafson’s death as “homicidal means” but has not provided any further details at this time. Once Smith is released from the hospital, he will be booked into the Benton County Jail on 2nd Degree Murder charges related to domestic violence.
