A fatal crash occurred on Tuesday afternoon in rural Klamath County, Oregon, resulting in the death of a 55-year-old driver. The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 4:29 PM on July 11, 2023, reporting a single-vehicle crash on Bliss Road near milepost seven. The caller had stumbled upon the crashed vehicle, which was located down an embankment, and discovered that the driver was deceased.
KCSO Deputies, along with Klamath County Fire District 3 and Bonanza Ambulance, responded to the incident and confirmed the driver’s death. The driver, identified as Travis Marion Barton, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Family and friends had already arrived at the scene by the time responders arrived.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Barton had not returned from work the previous evening. The family was preparing to file a missing person report when the crashed vehicle was found. It was determined that Barton’s vehicle had left the roadway after failing to negotiate a curve.
