A tragic incident occurred in Fairfax County, Virginia, early Saturday morning, resulting in the death of a man who was run over by a car. The Fairfax County Police are currently investigating the fatal pedestrian crash that took place at around 2:10 a.m. at the intersection of Columbia Pike and Powell Lane in the Bailey’s Crossroads area.

According to authorities, the driver of the car involved in the incident has been identified as Benjamin Lopez Encinas, a 33-year-old resident of Woodbridge. Encinas was traveling eastbound on Columbia Pike near Lincolnia Road when his vehicle struck the victim, identified as 26-year-old Luis Fernando Jimenez Rodriguez.

Shockingly, Encinas did not stop at the scene of the crash. However, thanks to the diligent efforts of the Fairfax County Police, they were able to locate the car and Encinas in the 6100 block of Marshall Drive. Encinas was subsequently taken into custody.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that Encinas was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Consequently, he has been charged with driving under the influence and has been transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
