Heartbreaking news emerges as one of two students critically injured in a shooting and stabbing incident after a recent high school basketball game on Friday evening has lost their life, as confirmed by the principal of Tri-Cities High School.

The deceased victim has been identified as Mario Bailey, a tenth-grade student from East Point.

Furthermore, another student involved in the incident has also been identified; however, their name has not been disclosed yet. Their current condition remains uncertain.

Principal Dr. Ethel Lett expressed concerns about the potential emotional impact that the events of Friday night may have on students.

“Parents may observe various emotional responses in their children, such as sadness, anger, shock, numbness, or feelings of insecurity,” stated Lett in a letter addressed to the parents. “Rest assured that we are taking necessary measures to enhance safety by increasing the presence of security personnel and resources, including the implementation of our Evolv concealed weapons detection system and the deployment of additional Fulton County Schools Police Officers,” 

Lett assured that the school will provide in-person and virtual support to any student in need of someone to talk to during this challenging time.

“We sincerely appreciate your support for our students in this difficult period,” added Lett. “We kindly request that you keep the family of Mario Bailey in your thoughts, along with the entire Tri-Cities community.”
