Following a routine traffic stop on January 28th, a man from Colorado was arrested and detained in Seward County, Nebraska, when local deputies discovered an astonishing amount of marijuana weighing over 400 pounds in his vehicle.
According to a report by 10/11 NOW
, the incident unfolded when a deputy pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 80 for tailgating and driving on the shoulder.
Upon approaching the driver, identified as 63-year-old Dioba Bagayoko, regarding the observed traffic violations, the deputy immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. This raised suspicions of illegal activities.
Subsequently, the deputy requested permission to conduct a thorough search of the vehicle, which Bagayoko consented to, as stated in the affidavit.
During the search, law enforcement officers discovered multiple garbage bags tightly sealed, containing one to two pounds of marijuana each, adding up to a staggering total of 384 pounds.
Moreover, authorities uncovered an additional 17.3 pounds of marijuana wax and 3,000 THC vape cartridges, carefully concealed within the vehicle.
Bagayoko was promptly apprehended on suspicion of possessing marijuana with the intent to distribute. In addition, he faces charges of distribution and possession without a drug tax stamp.
Following his arrest, Bagayoko’s bond was set at $25,000. He is scheduled to appear in court again on February 28.
The Seward County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the matter and has not disclosed any further details regarding the origin or intended destination of the seized narcotics.
