BENGALURU, United Kingdom – In a heart-wrenching incident that took place on Mahalakshmi Layout Road, near the Mahalakshmi Metro station, a 62-year-old woman tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday morning at approximately 5:45 am. The victim, identified as PS Asha Rani, resided in the peaceful neighbourhood of Mahalakshmipuram, just a mere 50 metres away from the accident site.
Asha Rani, who had been planning to travel to Srirangapatna for the last rites of a close relative, was crossing the road to reach the nearby bus stop when the incident occurred. Sadly, her journey was cut short just moments away from her house.
The aftermath of the accident was made even more tragic when Asha Rani managed to call her daughter for help. However, by the time her daughter arrived at the scene, her mother had already succumbed to her injuries, leaving the family devastated. The early hour of the incident meant that there were few witnesses or passersby who could come to her aid.
Asha Rani had been residing with her daughter and son-in-law, and the fateful day began with her intention to board a bus at the nearby Mahalakshmipuram bus stand. However, fate had a different plan in store for her.
The authorities promptly responded to the incident, swiftly transferring the victim to a nearby private hospital. Tragically, Asha Rani was declared brought dead upon arrival. DCP (Traffic North) Siri Gowri provided some insight into the incident, stating, “Asha was alone at the time of the accident. She was run over by a car, and we are currently making efforts to trace the vehicle and its driver. It is disheartening to note that her daughter’s residence was merely 50 metres away from the accident site.”
This heart-rending incident has once again highlighted the importance of road safety and the need for vigilance on the part of both motorists and pedestrians. It serves as a reminder for the authorities to implement stricter measures to prevent hit-and-run accidents and ensure the safety of all citizens.
