He furthered his education at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, earning a bachelor of science degree and a juris doctorate. After completing his studies, Judge Davis embarked on a promising legal career that would leave an indelible mark on the South Dakota judicial system.

A Distinguished Legal Career

Following his graduation, Judge Davis served as a law clerk for two judges from 1973 to 1975. He then joined the prestigious law firm of Sieler, Sieler & Trimble in Rapid City, where he practiced private law from 1975 to 1979. In 1976, Judge Davis was appointed a magistrate judge for the Seventh Judicial Circuit and later elevated to the position of circuit court judge in 1979.
