The Gender Based Violence Foundation National is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Namibia President Late Hage Geingob. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of a remarkable leader, and we extend our sincerest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.

Hage Geingob was a visionary and influential figure in Namibia’s political landscape. Born on August 3, 1941, in Otavi, Namibia, he dedicated his life to public service and played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future.

Geingob’s political journey began in the 1960s when he joined the South West Africa People’s Organization (SWAPO), a liberation movement fighting against apartheid in Namibia. He served as SWAPO’s representative to the United Nations and played a crucial role in garnering international support for Namibia’s independence.

After Namibia gained independence in 1990, Geingob held various ministerial positions, including Minister of Trade and Industry and Minister of Information and Broadcasting. In 2002, he became the Prime Minister of Namibia, a position he held for two consecutive terms until 2012. Geingob’s unwavering commitment to democracy, human rights, and social justice earned him the respect and admiration of people both in Namibia and abroad.

As President of Namibia, Geingob continued to champion economic development and social progress. He implemented policies that aimed to reduce inequality, eradicate poverty, and promote sustainable development. His dedication to improving the lives of Namibians was evident in his efforts to enhance education, healthcare, and infrastructure throughout the country.

While the cause of Geingob’s death remains unknown at this time, his passing leaves a void in Namibia’s leadership and the global community. His legacy will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to equality, justice, and progress.

The Gender Based Violence Foundation National honors President Late Hage Geingob’s memory and expresses our deepest gratitude for his invaluable contributions to the nation. May his soul rest in peace, and his vision for a better Namibia continue to inspire future generations.
