Born on January 23, 1933, in Washington, D.C., Chita Rivera grew up with a love for dancing. She began her journey in the world of entertainment at a young age, training in ballet and jazz. Her undeniable talent and dedication soon led her to make a name for herself in the industry.
Rivera’s career took off in the 1950s, when she started performing in Broadway productions. Her breakthrough came with the role of Anita in “West Side Story,” where her electrifying dance moves and powerful portrayal captivated audiences. This marked the beginning of a series of iconic roles that would define her career.
Known for her versatility and unmatched stage presence, Rivera became a trailblazer in the world of dance and theatre.
