Breaking News: Jesus and Prophet Ahmad’s Status as Prophets

Since a tweet by Khalid Malik on January 29, 2024, there has been a heated debate surrounding the status of Jesus and Prophet Ahmad as prophets. The tweet suggests that while Jesus became a prophet without following the Prophet Muhammad (saw), his arrival breaks the traditional notion of خاتم النبین (Khatam al-Nabiyyin). On the other hand, Prophet Ahmad became a prophet by following the Prophet Muhammad (saw), leading to the argument that his arrival does not break the status of خاتم النبین. Let’s delve deeper into this intriguing discussion.

According to Islamic tradition, خاتم النبین refers to the seal of the prophets, signifying that Prophet Muhammad (saw) was the final and ultimate messenger of Allah. This belief is central to the faith of Muslims worldwide. However, the question arises when considering the arrival of Jesus and Prophet Ahmad as prophets.

The Controversy Surrounding Jesus

Jesus, revered by Christians as the Son of God and a prophet, is mentioned in the Quran as one of the messengers of Allah. However, the tweet suggests that Jesus became a prophet without following the Prophet Muhammad (saw), which challenges the notion of خاتم النبین. While some argue that Jesus’ arrival as a prophet does break this status, others maintain that his position as a prophet is separate from the lineage of Prophet Muhammad (saw).

It is important to note that Islamic scholars have diverse opinions on this matter. Some believe that Jesus’ arrival as a prophet does not impact the status of خاتم النبین, as his role as a messenger of Allah is distinct from the finality of Prophet Muhammad (saw). Others argue that Jesus’ prophethood reinforces the concept of خاتم النبین, as it demonstrates the universality and continuity of Allah’s message.

The Role of Prophet Ahmad

The tweet also highlights the arrival of Prophet Ahmad as a prophet who followed the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (saw). This raises the question of whether Prophet Ahmad’s prophethood breaks the status of خاتم النبین. Some argue that since Prophet Ahmad’s prophethood is connected to the lineage of the Prophet Muhammad (saw), it does not challenge the finality of his message.

Prophet Ahmad is believed by some to be a reference to the coming of the Promised Messiah in Ahmadiyya Islam. This interpretation suggests that Prophet Ahmad’s prophethood is a continuation of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and does not break the status of خاتم النبین.

The Debate Continues

The tweet by Khalid Malik has sparked a passionate debate within the Islamic community. Scholars, theologians, and believers are engaging in discussions to explore the implications of Jesus and Prophet Ahmad’s prophethood on the status of خاتم النبین. This debate showcases the ongoing evolution and interpretation of Islamic beliefs and traditions.

It is important to approach this topic with sensitivity and respect for differing opinions. The diversity within the Islamic community allows for a rich tapestry of thought and understanding. As the discussions continue, it is crucial to foster an environment of open dialogue and mutual respect.

In Conclusion

The tweet by Khalid Malik has ignited a thought-provoking discussion regarding the status of Jesus and Prophet Ahmad as prophets. While opinions vary, it is evident that this topic challenges the traditional understanding of خاتم النبین. As the debate continues, it is essential to approach the subject with an open mind and respect for differing viewpoints. Ultimately, it is through these conversations that new insights and understandings can emerge, enriching the Islamic faith and its followers.
