Alan Pugnet, a proud native of Belleville, began his career with the New Jersey State Police in 1970. He initially served as a patrol officer on the Garden State Parkway before transitioning to the budget office. However, his true calling was found when he joined the Executive Protection Unit (EPU), where he served as a bodyguard to Governors Jim Florio and Christine Todd Whitman.
During his time with the New Jersey State Police, Pugnet played a vital role in several significant initiatives. He was instrumental in establishing the state’s 911 system, ensuring that emergency services were readily available to those in need. Additionally, he played a crucial part in implementing Megan’s Law, a legislation aimed at protecting communities from convicted sex offenders.
