Former NewsCenter 5 anchor and reporter, Bob Clinkscale, affectionately known as “Clink” in the newsroom, has sadly passed away. Clinkscale, who played a pivotal role in leading the EyeOpener broadcast during the 1970s, dedicated his career to delivering the news to the people of Massachusetts.
A Legacy in Broadcasting and Education
Clinkscale’s journey in the world of journalism began in the early 1970s when he joined WCVB. He quickly became a familiar face on the screen, providing the community with accurate and reliable news reports. His dedication to his craft and commitment to delivering the truth earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and viewers alike.
After his time at WCVB, Clinkscale’s passion for education led him to Emerson College, where he taught for an astounding 35 years. His wealth of experience and knowledge enriched the lives of countless aspiring journalists, shaping the future of the industry.
A Sad Farewell
On Thursday night, Clinkscale tragically passed away at Framingham Hospital. He had been residing in a long-term care facility for the past few years, and his loss will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
Celebrating a Life Well-Lived
Clinkscale’s family has announced that a wake will be held on February 2nd from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, located at 11 Lincoln St. in Framingham. A funeral service will follow on February 3rd at the Chapel of the Cross, situated at 160 Flanders Rd. in Westborough.
