One of their most well-known songs, “Remember (Walking in the Sand),” released in 1964, was later covered by Aerosmith in 1979 and the Go-Go’s in a punk rendition on their 1994 compilation album, Return to the Valley of The Go-Go’s.

Mary Weiss, originally from Queens, New York, was the last surviving member of the Shangri-Las. The group’s music was adored by fans worldwide, with hits like “Remember,” “Give Him a Great Big Kiss,” and the chart-topping track “Leader of the Pack.” Their unique sound and captivating performances left an indelible mark on the music industry.
